Celina Yong, MD, MBA, MSc
Celina Yong, MD, MBA, MSc, is Director of Interventional Cardiology at the VA Palo Alto Medical Center and an Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford. Dr. Yong completed her medical training at Stanford School of Medicine and her internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco. She completed her cardiology and interventional cardiology fellowships at Stanford, including a year as Chief Fellow. As a Marshall Scholar, she completed a Masters in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Oxford.
Dr. Yong’s current research focuses on innovating scalable technologies to reduce inequities in cardiovascular care. Specifically, she is interested in understanding and resolving racial, gender, geographic, and socioeconomic disparities in access to life-saving minimally invasive treatments, as well as gender imbalances in the medical profession itself. She is also interested in the decision-making process that patients undergo when receiving minimally invasive care, and how needs may differ by race/ethnicity and gender. She is actively involved in clinical trials of novel devices for percutaneous coronary and structural intervention at the VA Palo Alto Medical Center. Dr. Yong is supported by a VA HSR&D CDA on optimizing access, appropriateness, and quality of minimally invasive procedures for Veterans.
